For years I’ve had friends announce their pregnancies, followed their journey on social media and held their babies. They would update with nausea, weight gain, cravings and swollen feet and ankles. I always thought ‘oh no…not me!’
So far (knock on wood) this pregnancy has been a breeze compared to those friends with extreme symptoms. I’m not bragging…Just very thankful!
I haven’t had morning sickness…I’ve had friends with hyperemesis, that’s morning sickness 24/7 (nothing for me…yes!)
Weight gain has been on par…not too much…not too little (yes!)
No wacky cravings (yay for no pickles with ice cream!)
HOWEVER….I once saw a post from a friend of her poor aching swollen feet and ankles and I thought ‘oh my that sounds awful’…..and then it happened. I was working on painting a room in our house, my feet were aching just a bit so I threw on my flip flops with memory gel and that helped tremendously. I didn’t think anymore of it until I stepped back, admired my work and told my husband that I was done painting for the night and was going to sit down on the couch and prop my aching feet up.
I kicked off my flip flops, grabbed a pillow and plopped my feet up on the coffee table. To my horror my ankles were GONE! No definition between calf and ankle, I was the proud owner of a pair of canckles! I texted this photo to my husband (still working on projects upstairs).
Introducing Betty and Bertha.
I figured if they’re going to be with me for a while, I may as well name them….and they’re just like relatives you haven’t seen in a while and really can’t stand….they’ve made several appearances, un-announced and completely overstayed their welcome!
